Experimental 3D – Week 1

During the lecture we learnt about software called Maya.  I know how to use Cinema 4D  as this is what we were taught last year. Maya is similar to Cinema 4D and it is all about 3D software but Maya is more  professional than Cinema 4D.  I am looking forward to using Maya and I will stick with it.

We learnt basics of Maya such as moving objects around, zooming in and out, rotate, adding texture and polygon.  When I practised Maya there are quite a lot of differences between Maya and Cinema 4D. It looks complicated but the more I practise the understanding will come.

This is what  we learnt in Maya:

This tool shows how to move the object around like rotate, moving around and scale in x,y and z axis.

This too shows you can get any polygon objects to create 3D.

This is how it looks in Maya.

We also learnt how to do UV mapping. This is when you spread out all the areas of a shape and then place it on a flat 2D surface.

We also learnt some after effects. We had to create a spinning earth but somehow I got the layers wrong and it just did not look right. I still have to practise this one.

More to come soon……….
