3D Modelling & Animation – Week 7: Butterfly

During the lesson we learnt  how to create a butterfly moving in C4D. First of all I  created the butterfly wings on Photoshop and added colours that I thought would interpret well on screen. Screen Shot 2014-11-07 at 14.22.33 Screen Shot 2014-11-07 at 14.22.37

This is how I created the wings on Photoshop.

I have uploaded the butterfly into Cinema 4D to make it a moving image.

This  shows how I created the model of a butterfly on Cinema 4D using plane and symmetry and linked them together to make double wings. I found this really easy and had no problems at all.

Animation

The tool that I used to add texture and animate is material editor, alpha, spline, null, align to spline and record the frame.

This shows how I animated the butterfly.

It was amazing to learn how to create a moving image and I really enjoyed playing around with these tools.

Scene

I decided to animate the butterfly in a scene.

I experimented with four butterflies flying in all directions and people looking in awe.

I enjoyed creating the butterfly and decided to take this project furthur with the animation. The scene was sometimes a bit fiddly trying to get everything in view but making the butterflies the main focus. In the end I am satisfied with the animation even though rendering took forever!
